Getting to Wieliczka by car or Uber
The easiest way to get to Wieliczka is from Krakow by car. From the centre of Krakow, head towards Kamińskiego Street and then straight towards Wielicka Street to Wieliczka. Be careful on Wielicka Street there are unmarked police cars, usually BMWs, so be careful not to get a ticket.
The address of the salt mine in Wieliczka is 10 Daniłowicza Street, 32-020 Wieliczka. It takes about 20-50 minutes to get here from the centre of Krakow, depending on traffic.
You can get to Wieliczka from Krakow by Uber or Bolt. The cost is about PLN 40-50 (EUR 10 or GBP 9.30).
Getting to Wieliczka by public transport
It is possible to get from Krakow to Wieliczka by special suburban trains of the Lesser Poland Railways from Krakow Główny station to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia station. The SKA1 train runs on the route from Balice airport through stations such as Olszanica, Bronowice, Zabłocie, Płaszów all the way to Wieliczka. The SKA1 runs at least once an hour, but it is worth checking the timetable.
Getting to Wieliczka is also possible by bus. There is a line 304 from the centre of Krakow to Wieliczka, which starts at Dworzec Główny Zachód near Galeria Krakowska Shoppin Mall and goes along the Mickiewicza and Slowackiego Avenues so you can hop on a bus along its route. You can check the timetable on the MPK Kraków website, you need to buy an agglomeration ticket.
There are many traps lurking in Krakow for tourists in the form of organised trips to the salt mine, which are much more expensive than getting there on your own. Getting to Wieliczka on your own is cheap, simple and quick, so there is no point in paying someone big money to take you to the salt mine in Wieliczka.
